Replacement: hand brake cable – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tools you might need:

                        WD-40 spray
                      
                        Brake cleaner 
                      
                        Copper grease 
                      
                        Torque wrench
                      
                        Drive socket # 10
                      
                        Drive socket # 16
                      
                        Wheel impact socket #19
                      
                        Ratchet wrench
                      
                        Nippers
                      
                        Hammer
                      
                        Round-nose pliers
                      
                        Crow bar
                      
                        Hydraulic transmission jack
                      
                        Wheel chock

Replacement: hand brake cable – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:

Replace the parking brake cables in pairs.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: hand brake cable – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper.Use nippers. Use a crowbar.
Step 7

Detach the parking brake cable from the car body.Use a hammer.Use a crowbar.
Step 8

Detach the silencer from the bracket.Use a crowbar.
Step 9

Support the silencer.Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 10

Detach the silencer from the bracket.Use a crowbar.
Step 11

Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 12

Unscrew the exhaust heat shield fasteners.Use a drive socket #10.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the exhaust heat shield.
Step 14

Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15

Loosen the parking brake cable.Use a drive socket #16.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16

Release the parking brake cable.Use round-nose pliers.
Step 17

Remove the parking brake cable.
Step 18

Install a new parking brake cable.
Step 19

Secure the parking brake cable.

Step 20

Attach the parking brake cable to the car body.
Step 21

Install the parking brake cable into the brake caliper bracket.Use nippers. Use a crowbar.
Step 22

Adjust the parking brake cable tension.Use a drive socket #16.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 23

Install the exhaust heat shield.
Step 24

Screw in the exhaust heat shield fasteners.Use a drive socket #10.Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25

Treat the silencer fasteners.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 26

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 27

Attach the silencer to the bracket.
Step 28

Remove the support from under the silencer.

AUTODOC recommends:

Replacement: hand brake cable – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 29

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim.Use copper grease.
Step 30

Clean the brake disk surface.Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:

After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 31

Install the wheel.

Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon
Step 32

Screw in the wheel bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 33

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 34

Remove the jacks and chocks.
