Replacement: hand brake cable – FORD MONDEO III (B5Y). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Replace the parking brake cables in pairs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: hand brake cable – FORD MONDEO III (B5Y). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD MONDEO III (B5Y)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper. Use nippers. Use a crowbar.
- Step 7Detach the parking brake cable from the car body. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Detach the silencer from the bracket. Use a crowbar.
- Step 9Support the silencer. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 10Detach the silencer from the bracket. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
- Step 12Unscrew the exhaust heat shield fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the exhaust heat shield.
- Step 14Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Loosen the parking brake cable. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Release the parking brake cable. Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 17Remove the parking brake cable.
- Step 18Install a new parking brake cable.
- Step 19Secure the parking brake cable.Step 20Attach the parking brake cable to the car body.
