Replacement: hand brake cable – FORD MONDEO III Estate (BWY). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Replace the parking brake cables in pairs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: hand brake cable – FORD MONDEO III Estate (BWY). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD MONDEO III Estate (BWY) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper. Use nippers. Use a crowbar. - Step 7
Detach the parking brake cable from the car body. Use a hammer. Use a crowbar. - Step 8
Detach the silencer from the bracket. Use a crowbar. - Step 9
Support the silencer. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 10
Detach the silencer from the bracket. Use a crowbar. - Step 11
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm. - Step 12
Unscrew the exhaust heat shield fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 13
Remove the exhaust heat shield. - Step 14
Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 15
Loosen the parking brake cable. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 16
Release the parking brake cable. Use round-nose pliers. - Step 17
Remove the parking brake cable. - Step 18
Install a new parking brake cable. - Step 19Secure the parking brake cable.Step 20
Attach the parking brake cable to the car body.
