Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. AUTODOC recommends:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. AUTODOC experts recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.
Step 7

Remove the cotter pin. Use round-nose pliers.
Step 8

Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a combination spanner #19.
Step 9

Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
Step 10

Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar with the control arm. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar.
Step 14

Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
Step 15

Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
Step 16

Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).
Step 17

Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 18

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19

Install a new arm. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. Tip:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 20

Install the control arm fasteners.
Step 21

Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle.
Step 22

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 23

Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 24

Tighten the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 128 nm torque.
Step 25

Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 98 nm torque.
Step 26

Install the cotter pin.

Step 27

Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 28

Screw in the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar to the control arm. Use a drive socket #16.
Step 29

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 30

Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer bar with the control arm. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 18 Nm torque.
Step 31

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 32

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 33

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota Aygo AB1. Professionals recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 34

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Toyota Aygo AB1
Step 35

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 36

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 nm torque.

Step 37

Remove the jacks and chocks.
