How to change front suspension arm / front control arm on TOYOTA RAV 4 3 (XA30) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

All the parts you need to replace – Control Arm for RAV 4 III (ACA3_, ACE_, ALA3_, GSA3_, ZSA3_) and other TOYOTA models

Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota RAV4 III. AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – Toyota RAV4 III. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Toyota RAV4 III
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover. Use a drive socket #12.
- Step 7Remove the oil pan cover.
- Step 8Remove the cotter pin. Use a flat screwdriver. Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 9Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 10Loosen the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19.
- Step 11Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 12Remove the front fastener of the control arm.
- Step 13Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a drive socket #22. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 14Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
- Step 15Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #17.
- Step 16Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.
- Step 17Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 18Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 19Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 20Install a new arm.AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 21Install the rear fastener of the arm.
- Step 22Install the front fastener of the arm.
- Step 23Attach the ball joint to the control arm.
- Step 24Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #17.
