Replacement: shock absorbers – Toyota Aygo AB1. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Toyota Aygo AB1. Take the following steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Open the boot lid.
Step 4
Remove the clips of the boot side lining. Use a clip removal tool.
Step 5
Unscrew the fastener of the boot side lining. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 6
Detach the boot side lining.
Step 7
Remove the mount cap from the shock absorber upper fastener.
Step 8
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #14 (2 pieces). Use locking pliers.
Step 9
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 10
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Toyota Aygo AB1. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 11
Remove the wheel.
Step 12
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 13
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 14
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Toyota Aygo AB1
Step 15
Remove the shock absorber.
Step 16
Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Toyota Aygo AB1. Professionals recommend:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary. Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
Step 17
Install the dust sleeve and the bump stop on the new shock absorber.
Step 18
Treat the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. Toyota Aygo AB1
Step 20
Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm. Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 21
Screw the upper fastener of the shock absorber.
Step 22
Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Toyota Aygo AB1. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 23
Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 24
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 25
Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 26
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Toyota Aygo AB1
Step 27
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 28
Lower the car.
Step 29
Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a combination spanner #14 (2 pieces). Use locking pliers. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 30
Install the mount cap on the shock absorber upper fastener.
Step 31
Attach the side lining of the boot.
Step 32
Install the clips of the boot side lining.
Step 33
Screw in the fastener of the boot side lining. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 34
Close the lid of the luggage compartment.
Step 35
Tighten the wheel bolts using a criss-cross pattern. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 nm torque.
Step 36
Remove the jacks and chocks.
