Replacement: coil springs – Ford Mondeo BWY. Tip from AUTODOC experts:

Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
Please note: all work on the car – Ford Mondeo BWY – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: coil springs – Ford Mondeo BWY. Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7

Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a combination spanner #19.
Step 8

Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 9

Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Remove the fastening nut.

Step 11

Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12

Support the stub axle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 13

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 14

Detach the suspension arm from the rear knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver. Use a crowbar.
Step 15

Remove the support from under the stub axle. Use a crowbar.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – Ford Mondeo BWY. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 16

Take out the spring.

Replacement: coil springs – Ford Mondeo BWY. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Examine suspension spring rubber spacers. Replace them if needed.
Step 17

Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 18

Install the spring.
Step 19

Support the stub axle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 20

Attach the suspension arm to the rear knuckle. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 21

Install the fastening bolt. Use a flat screwdriver. Use a hammer.
Step 22

Screw in the fastener that connects the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 23

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.

Step 24

Tighten the fastener connecting the suspension arm to the rear knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 84 Nm torque.
Step 25

Tighten the arm fastening to the beam. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 103 nm torque.
Step 26

install the rod fastening to the stabilizer and tighten it. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 27

Remove the support from under the stub axle.

AUTODOC recommends:
Ford Mondeo BWY – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 28

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 29

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 30

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: coil springs – Ford Mondeo BWY. AUTODOC experts recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 31

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Ford Mondeo BWY
Step 32

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 33

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 nm torque.

Step 34

Remove the jacks and chocks.
