Replacement: front lower arm – Nissan Micra K12. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – Nissan Micra K12. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2
Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench. - Step 3
Raise the car.Replacement: front lower arm – Nissan Micra K12. Tip:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the front fastener of the control arm. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 9
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 10
Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 11
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. - Step 12
Unscrew the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 13
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 14
Remove the control arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 15
Clean the suspension arm mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 16
Install the new control arm. - Step 17
Install the fastening bolts.
