How to change front suspension arm on FIAT PANDA (169) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Control Arm for PANDA (169) and other FIAT models
Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. AUTODOC experts recommend:
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Fiat Panda 169
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.Wear a respirator.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 9
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 10
Remove the front fastener of the control arm.
Step 11
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 12
Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
Step 13
Remove the arm.
Step 14
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15
Install a new arm.
Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. Professionals recommend:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 16
Install the control arm fasteners. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 17
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 18
Screw the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 19
Screw the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20
Screw the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 21
Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 32 Nm torque.
Step 22
Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 23
Tighten the rear fastener connecting the arm to the body subframe. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 24
Remove the support from under the arm.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 25
Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 26
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 27
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: front lower arm – Fiat Panda 169. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 28
Install the wheel.

Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. Fiat Panda 169
Step 29
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 30
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 98 nm torque.
Step 31
Remove the jacks and chocks.

My 2021 Fiat Panda HYbrid is nothing like this otherwise excellent video . the front control arm to subframe bolt head is hidden by the front chassis member which require the front panel to be removed to gain access to the fixing bolts . I have removed the headlight screws and the wheel arc liners and still cannot gain access to removing the front panel and bumper [email protected] . I have relocated the anti roll bar drop link from the macpherson strut onto the lower wishbone .
