Replacement: track rod end – FORD Focus Mk2 Kasten / Kombi. AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace tie rod ends in pairs.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left tie rod ends.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: track rod end – FORD Focus Mk2 Kasten / Kombi. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: track rod end – FORD Focus Mk2 Kasten / Kombi. AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
When deinstalling, mark or measure the precise position of the ball joint on the track rod, or count the number of turns in order to prevent misalignment afterward. Use a vernier caliper. - Step 7Clean the lock nut that connects the tie rod to the tie rod end. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 8
Loosen the lock nut securing the tie rod end to the tie rod. Use a combination spanner #24. - Step 9Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 10
Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 12
Screw the end out of the tie rod. - Step 13
Clean the mounting seats of the tie rod end. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 14
Treat the mounting seats of the tie rod end. Use copper grease.
