Replacement: spark plugs – TOYOTA PRIUS Saloon (_W1_). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the fasteners of the windscreen wiper arms. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 4Remove the wiper arms.
- Step 5Remove the wiper arm covers. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 6Treat the fasteners of the windscreen wiper linkage. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Detach the windscreen wiper connector.
- Step 8Unscrew the fasteners of the windscreen wiper linkage panel. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Unscrew the fasteners of the fuse box. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Remove the panel assembled with the windscreen wiper linkage.
- Step 11Clean the ignition coils.
- Step 12Unscrew the fasteners of the ignition coils. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Take out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.Replacement: spark plugs – TOYOTA PRIUS Saloon (_W1_). AUTODOC recommends:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting.
- Step 14Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
- Step 15Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Take out the spark plugs.
- Step 17Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
- Step 18Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. Use the spark plug socket #16.
- Step 19Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 18 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – TOYOTA PRIUS Saloon (_W1_). Professionals recommend:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
