Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus MK2. AUTODOC recommends:
Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Ford Focus MK2 car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus MK2. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Focus MK2
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable.Use a wire brush.Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 7
Release the parking brake cable.Use water pump pliers.
Step 8
Spread the brake pads.Use a crowbar.
Step 9
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush.Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 10
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening.Use a combination spanner #13.
Step 11
Disconnect the brake hose. Use a crowbar.
Step 12
Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Use a crowbar.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus MK2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 13
Clean the brake disc fasteners.Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14
Remove the brake disc.Use a rubber mallet.
Step 15
Clean the fasteners of the wheel hub bearing.Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16
Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat.Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 17
Detach the ABS sensor connector.Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 18
Unscrew the wheel hub bolts.Use Torx T50.Use a tap wrench.
Step 19
Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
Step 20
Remove the brake disc baffle plate.
Step 21
Clean the hub bearing mounting seat.Use a wire brush.Use WD-40 spray.
Step 22
Install the brake disc baffle plate.
Step 23
Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
Step 24
Tighten the wheel hub bolts.Use Torx T50.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 65 nm torque.
Step 25
Treat the ABS sensor connector.Use electronic spray.
Step 26
Attach the ABS sensor connector.
Step 27
Apply some copper grease to the hub where it contacts the brake disk.
Step 28
Install the brake disc.
Step 29
Install the brake caliper together with its bracket.
Step 30
Tighten the brake caliper bracket.Use a drive socket #13.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 31
Attach the brake hose.
Step 32
Install the parking brake cable into the brake caliper bracket.Use water pump pliers.
Step 33
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 34
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 35
Clean the brake disk surface.Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus MK2. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 36
Install the wheel.

Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Ford Focus MK2
Step 37
Screw in the wheel bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 38
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts.Use wheel impact socket #19.Use a torque wrench.Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 39
Remove the jacks and chocks.
