How to change front wheel bearing on FORD FOCUS (DAW) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus DAW. AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Ford Focus DAW car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – Ford Focus DAW – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 3Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #32. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 4Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 5Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 6Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Focus DAW
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Pull aside the brake caliper retaining spring.
- Step 9Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus DAW. Tip from AUTODOC:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 13Remove the brake disc.
- Step 14Clean the ABS sensor mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use a crowbar.
- Step 17Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 20Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Unscrew the fasteners connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 22Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 23Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #15. Use Torx T50. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 24Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 25Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
- Step 26Remove the fastening nut.Step 27Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus DAW. Professionals recommend:Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
- Step 28Remove the fastening bolt.Step 29Release the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a special drive socket to remove the shock absorber. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 30Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
- Step 31Clean the wheel hub mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 32Remove the wheel hub from the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 33Pull the bearing inner race out of the wheel hub. Use a bearing separator. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 34Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use circlip pliers.
- Step 35Press out the wheel hub bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 36Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 37Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Focus DAW. AUTODOC experts recommend:Check to make sure the wheel hub bearing is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. Stop pressing on the surface of the bearing immediately after it has been fitted into its mounting seat.
- Step 38Clean the hub. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 39Install the wheel hub on the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 40Install the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use circlip pliers.
- Step 41Treat the shock strut mounting seat on the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 42Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 43Install the steering knuckle assembled with the wheel hub.
- Step 44Install the fastening bolt.
