How to change rear anti roll bar link on FORD MONDEO MK3 Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Anti Roll Bar Links for MONDEO III Saloon (B4Y) and other FORD models
Replace the stabiliser links on Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon in pairs.
The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
Please note: all work on the car – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon
Step 5
Remove the wheel.
Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a combination spanner #17.
Step 9
Remove the stabiliser link.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed.
Step 10
Clean the mounting seats of the stabiliser link. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 11
Install a new rod, tighten the fasteners. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6.
Step 12
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 13
Tighten the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 48 Nm torque.
Step 14
Treat all joints of the stabiliser link. Use copper grease.
Step 15
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 16
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 17
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: anti roll bar links – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 18
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon
Step 19
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 20
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 21
Remove the jacks and chocks.
