AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 7Release the parking brake cable. Use nippers. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 9Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #13.
- Step 10Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – Ford Mondeo Mk3 saloon. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 11Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 15Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Unscrew the brake disc fastening.
- Step 17Remove the brake disc.
- Step 18Clean the ABS sensor connector. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 19Detach the ABS sensor connector.
- Step 20Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Unscrew the wheel hub bolts. Use Torx T50. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 22Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit. Use a hammer.
- Step 23Remove the brake disc baffle plate.
- Step 24Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 25Install the brake disc baffle plate.
- Step 26Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
