Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Clio 2. Tip:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Clio 2. Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3
Raise the front of the car and secure on supports. - Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Renault Clio 2 - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Unscrew the wheel arch cover fasteners. Move the part aside. - Step 7
Clean the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar and of its bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 8
Unscrew the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. - Step 9
Unscrew the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a tap wrench. - Step 10
Remove the bumper reinforcement bar. - Step 11
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 12
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. - Step 13
Unscrew the stabilizer rod fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. - Step 14
Remove the stabilizer rod. - Step 15
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. - Step 17
Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 18
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. - Step 19
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 20
Release the fastener that connects the control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 21
Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. - Step 22
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 23
Remove the arm. Use a crowbar. - Step 24
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 25
Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Clio 2. Professionals recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 26
Install the fastening bolts. - Step 27
Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle. - Step 28
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 29
Install the fastening bolt. - Step 30
Remove the support from under the arm.AUTODOC recommends:Renault Clio 2 – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car. - Step 31
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #16. Use a combination spanner #16.
