- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles. - Step 7
Unscrew the subframe reinforcement bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 9
Unscrew the subframe fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Detach the front subframe crossmember. - Step 11Remove the support from under the subframe.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.Step 12
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip from AUTODOC experts:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles. - Step 13
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench. - Step 14
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 15
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench. - Step 16
Remove the rear fastener of the control arm. - Step 17Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a tap wrench.Step 18Remove the front fastener of the control arm. Use a crowbar.Step 19
Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 20
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. - Step 21
Remove the arm. - Step 22
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 23
Install a new arm.Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). AUTODOC experts recommend:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 24
Install the front fastener of the arm. - Step 25
Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle. - Step 26
Install the fastening bolt. - Step 27
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 28Install the rear fastener of the control arm.Step 29
Screw the rear arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 30Screw the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 31
Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
