Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_). Tip:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_). Take the following steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Unscrew the wheel arch cover fasteners. Move the part aside.
Step 7

Clean the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar and of its bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 9

Unscrew the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a tap wrench.
Step 10

Remove the bumper reinforcement bar.
Step 11

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 12

Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 13

Unscrew the stabilizer rod fasteners. Use a drive socket #13.
Step 14

Remove the stabilizer rod.
Step 15

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 16

Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 17

Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 18

Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16.
Step 19

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 20

Release the fastener that connects the control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 21

Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle.
Step 22

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 23

Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
Step 24

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 25

Install a new arm.

Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_). Professionals recommend:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 26

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 27

Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle.
Step 28

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 29

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 30

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 31

Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #16. Use a combination spanner #16.
Step 32

Screw the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.
Step 33

Screw the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18.
Step 34

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 35

Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 36

Tighten the rear fastener of the control arm. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 nm torque.
Step 37

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 38

Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 55 Nm torque.
Step 39

Install the bumper reinforcement bar.
Step 40

Screw in the fastener of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 41

Screw in the fastener of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 70 Nm torque.
Step 42

Treat the bumper support bracket. Use copper grease.
Step 43

Install the wheel arch cover to its mounting seat.
Step 44

Ιnstall the transverse stabilizer link. Use a crowbar.
Step 45

Tighten the stabiliser link fastener. Use Torx T40. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 14 Nm torque.
Step 46

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 47

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 48

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 49

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. RENAULT CLIO II Box (SB0/1/2_)
Step 50

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 51

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 nm torque.
Step 52

Remove the jacks and chocks.
