How to change front suspension arm / front control arm on RENAULT SCENIC 2 (JM) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Scenic 2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Renault Scenic 2.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 4Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 5Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 6Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Scenic 2. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T20. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 9Remove the wheel arch cover.
- Step 10Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a drive socket #10.
- Step 11Remove the lower sound insulation.Step 12Clean the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar and of its bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Scenic 2. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.Step 13Unscrew the fasteners of the bumper reinforcement bar bracket. Use a drive socket #13.
- Step 14Support the lower radiator support to prevent it from falling when removing the bumper reinforcement bar. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 15Loosen the fastener connecting the bumper reinforcement bar to the lower radiator support. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Unscrew the fasteners connecting the bumper reinforcement bar to the subframe. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 17Detach and pull aside the bumper reinforcement bar. Use a crowbar.
- Step 18Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 19Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 21Detach the ABS sensor wiring from the suspension control arm. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 22Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 23Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 24Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar.Step 25Clean the control arm fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 26Unscrew the rear arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 27Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 28Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 29Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush.
- Step 30Install a new arm. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 31Install the front fastener of the arm.
- Step 32Screw the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 33Install the bumper reinforcement bar. Use a crowbar.Step 34Screw in the fastener connecting the bumper reinforcement bar to the lower radiator support.Step 35Remove the support from under the lower radiator support.Replacement: front lower arm – Renault Scenic 2. AUTODOC recommends:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
