How to change spark plug on TOYOTA RAV4 II [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: spark plugs – Toyota RAV4 II. Professionals recommend:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – Toyota RAV4 II. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Loosen the fastening clamp connecting the air duct to the air filter housing. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 4Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing.
- Step 5Unscrew the fasteners of the air filter housing. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 6Loosen the fastening clamp connecting the air duct to the air filter housing. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing.
- Step 8Cover the air intake hose with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system.
- Step 9Move the air filter housing aside.Step 10Unscrew the fasteners of the air filter housing bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the air filter housing bracket.
- Step 13Clean the ignition coils.
- Step 14Unplug the connectors from the ignition coils.
- Step 15Unscrew the fasteners of the ignition coils. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 17Take out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.Replacement: spark plugs – Toyota RAV4 II. Tip:Remember the sequence of steps for ignition coil demounting.
- Step 18Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
- Step 19Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Take out the spark plugs.
- Step 21Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
- Step 22Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
- Step 23Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 19 nm torque.Replacement: spark plugs – Toyota RAV4 II. Tip from AUTODOC experts:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.Lower the spark plugs into the wells carefully, making sure not to damage the electrode gap.
- Step 24Install the ignition coils to the spark plug wells.
- Step 25Install the fastening bolts.
