How to change rear brake discs on TOYOTA RAV4 II [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the brake disks on the car Toyota RAV4 II in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
- When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
- Please note: all work on the car – Toyota RAV4 II – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 4Raise the car.Replacement: brake discs – Toyota RAV4 II. Tip from AUTODOC:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
- Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Toyota RAV4 II
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Detach the brake caliper retaining spring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 8Remove the retaining springs of the brake pads. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 9Clean the brake pad guide pins. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.AUTODOC recommends:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 10Remove the brake pad guide pins. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
- Step 11Remove the brake pads.
- Step 12Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake discs – Toyota RAV4 II. AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 15Remove the rubber plug. Use a crowbar.
- Step 16Release the parking brake adjuster. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 17Remove the brake disc.
- Step 18Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 19Treat the contacting surface. Use ceramic grease.
- Step 20Install the brake disc.
- Step 21Set the parking brake adjuster in the correct position. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 22Install the rubber plug. Use a crowbar.
