How to change rear wheel bearing / rear hub bearing on RENAULT MEGANE 2 (LM) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Wheel Bearing for MEGANE II Saloon (LM0/1_) and other RENAULT models
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your Renault Megane 2 car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 2
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 3
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 4
Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
Step 5
Unscrew the wheel bolts.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Renault Megane 2
Step 6
Remove the wheel.
Step 7
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 8
Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9
Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10
Remove the brake caliper.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. AUTODOC recommends:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 11
Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 12
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 13
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #E16. Use a tap wrench.
Step 14
Remove the caliper bracket.
Step 15
Pry up and remove the wheel hub cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
Step 16
Unscrew the hub lock nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a tap wrench.
Step 17
Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing.
Step 18
Install the brake disc assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
Step 19
Screw the wheel hub lock nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 175 Nm torque.
Step 20
Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk. Use a multipurpose grease.
Step 21
Install the cap of the hub nut. Use a rubber mallet.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. Tip:
The cap must always be replaced. When you install the previously used cap the sealing will be lost.
Step 22
Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 23
Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 24
Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use a drive socket #Е16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 105 Nm torque.
Step 25
Press in the brake caliper piston. Use brake caliper wind back tool.
Step 26
Install the brake pads.
Step 27
Install the brake caliper and fix it. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. Tip from AUTODOC:
Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.
Step 28
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 29
Clean the brake disk surface. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 30
Install the wheel.
AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Renault Megane 2
Step 31
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 32
Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
Step 33
Remove the jacks and chocks.
AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Replacement: wheel bearing – Renault Megane 2. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 34
Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.
