AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9 car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. Professionals recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 9Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 11Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolts.Step 13Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 14Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 15Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 16Remove the brake disc.
- Step 17Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 18Unstake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 19Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 21Clean the wheel hub mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 22Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing.
- Step 23Install the fastening nut.Step 24Tighten the hub. Use a drive socket #30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 162 Nm torque.
