Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9 car.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Unstake the wheel hub retaining nut. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.Step 7Clean the wheel hub fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 8Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #32. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening nut.Step 10Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 11Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).Step 13Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.AUTODOC recommends:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 14Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 15Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 16Remove the brake disc.
- Step 17Remove the cotter pin. Use nippers.
- Step 18Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 19Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 20Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 21Clean the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 22Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19.
- Step 23Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 24Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle.
- Step 25.1Remove the ABS sensor from the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 25.2Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 26Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 27Unscrew the fasteners connecting the suspension strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 28Remove the fastening bolts.Step 29Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 30Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
- Step 31Remove the wheel hub from the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a hammer.
- Step 32Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use round-nose pliers. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 33Press out the wheel hub bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 34Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 35Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – HONDA CITY Saloon GD8/GD9. Tip from AUTODOC:Check to make sure the wheel hub bearing is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. Stop pressing on the surface of the bearing immediately after it has been fitted into its mounting seat.
- Step 36Install the retaining ring on the steering knuckle. Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 37Install the wheel hub on the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
