Replacement: rear lower arm – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). AUTODOC recommends:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: rear lower arm – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: rear lower arm – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 7
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 8
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_) - Step 9
Clean the fasteners connecting the control arm to the side member. Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 10
Unscrew the stabilizer rod fasteners. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Make a mark on the crossmember and on the camber adjustment bolt. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 12
Unscrew the arm fastening to the beam. Use a drive socket #18. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a tap wrench. - Step 13
Unscrew the fastener connecting the control arm to the rear knuckle. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 14
Remove the support from under the rear arm.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: rear lower arm – FORD FOCUS II Estate (DA_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms. - Step 15
Take out the spring. Use a crowbar. - Step 16
Unscrew the lower arm fastening. Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 17
Install a new suspension arm. Install the control arm fasteners. - Step 18
Install the spring.
