- Replace the brake disks on the car RENAULT SCÉNIC I (JA0/1_) in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
- When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
- Please note: all work on the car – RENAULT SCÉNIC I (JA0/1_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 4Raise the car.Replacement: brake discs – RENAULT SCÉNIC I (JA0/1_). AUTODOC experts recommend:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. RENAULT SCÉNIC I (JA0/1_)
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake discs – RENAULT SCÉNIC I (JA0/1_). Tip from AUTODOC:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 10Remove the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 14Remove the hub bearing cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 15Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 16Remove the brake disc assemled with the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 17Clean the stub axle. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 18Treat the stub axle. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Install the brake disc assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 20Tighten the wheel bearing nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 175 Nm torque.
- Step 21Install the hub bearing cap. Use a rubber mallet.
