- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your HYUNDAI SANTA FÉ III (DM) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – HYUNDAI SANTA FÉ III (DM) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. HYUNDAI SANTA FÉ III (DM)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Replacement: wheel bearing – HYUNDAI SANTA FÉ III (DM). AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur. Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 9Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 10Unscrew the brake disc mounting bolts and remove it. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 11Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use nippers.
- Step 12Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #32. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the fastening nut.
- Step 14Clean the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 15Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #19. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Remove the fastening bolt. Use a hammer. Use a pin punch.
- Step 17Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.Step 18.1Unscrew the fastener that connects the wheel hub bearing to the steering knuckle.Step 18.2Use a drive socket #14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Remove the fastening bolts.Step 20Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle. Use a hammer.Step 21Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 22Clean the wheel hub mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 23Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing.
