Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA Saloon JA8 JR8. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – FORD FIESTA Saloon JA8 JR8.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA Saloon JA8 JR8 - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA Saloon JA8 JR8. Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes. - Step 7
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench. - Step 8
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 9
Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench. - Step 10
Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench. - Step 11
Remove the rear fastener of the control arm. - Step 12
Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer. - Step 13
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. - Step 14
Remove the front fastener of the control arm. - Step 15
Remove the arm. - Step 16
Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 17
Install a new arm. Use a rubber mallet.Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA Saloon JA8 JR8. AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 18
Install the control arm fasteners. - Step 19Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.Step 20
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
