Replacement: front lower arm – Ford Fiesta JA8. AUTODOC experts recommend:

The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Ford Fiesta JA8.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 3

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Ford Fiesta JA8
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Replacement: front lower arm – Ford Fiesta JA8. Tip:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 7

Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
Step 8

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 9

Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
Step 10

Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench.
Step 11

Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
Step 12

Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
Step 13

Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
Step 14

Remove the front fastener of the control arm.
Step 15

Remove the arm.
Step 16

Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 17

Install a new arm. Use a rubber mallet.

Replacement: front lower arm – Ford Fiesta JA8. AUTODOC recommends:
During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
Step 18

Install the control arm fasteners.
Step 19

Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.

Step 20

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 21

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 22

Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 23

Screw the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 24

Screw the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25

Tighten the rear fastener connecting the arm to the body subframe. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 65 Nm torque.+180°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 26

Tighten the front fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 65 Nm torque.+180°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 27

Tighten the ball joint fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 50 nm torque.
Step 28

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: front lower arm – Ford Fiesta JA8. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 29

Treat all joints of the arm. Use copper grease.
Step 30

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 31

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 32

Install the wheel.

Replacement: front lower arm – Ford Fiesta JA8. Tip from AUTODOC:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 33

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
Step 34

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 nm torque.
Step 35

Remove the jacks and chocks.

It says to use new bolts "During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.". Where can I get the bolts as I can't find them anywhere other than in the US.
