Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA VI Van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – FORD FIESTA VI Van.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. FORD FIESTA VI Van
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA VI Van. Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 7Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 9Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a drive socket #15. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 10Unscrew the rear fastener connecting the control arm to the subframe. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 11Remove the rear fastener of the control arm.
- Step 12Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 13Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
- Step 14Remove the front fastener of the control arm.
- Step 15Remove the arm.
- Step 16Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Install a new arm. Use a rubber mallet.Replacement: front lower arm – FORD FIESTA VI Van. AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 18Install the control arm fasteners.
- Step 19Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.Step 20Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
