Replacement: brake discs – TOYOTA FORTUNER. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the brake disks on the car TOYOTA FORTUNER in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
- When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: brake discs – TOYOTA FORTUNER. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 4Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. TOYOTA FORTUNER
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Clean the brake pads fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.Replacement: brake discs – TOYOTA FORTUNER. Tip:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
- Step 8Remove the brake pads retaining clips. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 9Remove the retainer of the brake pads. Use a pin punch. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 10Remove the retaining spring of the brake pads.
- Step 11Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Remove the brake pads.
- Step 13Clean the brake hose bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Disconnect the brake hose mounting bracket. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 16Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a drive socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 17Remove the brake caliper.AUTODOC recommends:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 18Clean the brake disk surface. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Remove the brake disc. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 20Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
- Step 21Install the brake disc.
