Glow Plugs: disposal recommendations
A used glow plug is classified as "other automotive maintenance and repair waste".
It can be made with using iron-chromium-nickel alloy, magnesium oxide, ceramics, and silicone nitride.
This type of waste is classified as non-hazardous.
However, for environmental reasons, this car part must not be disposed of with household waste.
- Consumer disposal optionsUsed glow plugs can be brought to appropriately labelled recycling bins or handed over to a specialised waste management service. It is prohibited to store these parts or dispose of them in places not designated for this purpose.
- Industrial disposal regulationsThe collection, storage and disposal of used glow plugs is regulated by the List of Wastes Regulations of 2005 and the Waste Framework Directive 75/442/EEC.
