Intercooler: Proper disposal
AUTODOC recommends protecting the environment and disposing of used parts properly
Intercooler: disposal recommendations
The hazardous waste content of the used part depends on its design. For example, a used liquid-to-air intercooler may contain coolant residues that are toxic to humans, animals, and plants (EWC code 16 01 14). According to the European Waste Catalogue, an air-to-air intercooler is not classified as hazardous waste after the end of its service life (EWC code 16 01 17 / 16 01 18 / 16 01 19 / 16 01 22).
- Consumer disposal optionsThe component should be disposed of according to the regulations for sorting metal waste. Liquid-to-air intercoolers must be disposed of only after removing antifreeze residues.
- Industrial disposal regulationsThe collection, storage, recycling, and disposal are carried out by specialist companies per the regulatory requirements for this type of waste.
