Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B6. AUTODOC experts recommend:

The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B6. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Audi A4 B6
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 7

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 9

Remove the fastening bolt.

Step 10

Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Remove the wheel arch cover.
Step 12

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Audi A4 B6
Step 13

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 14

Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 15

Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.
Step 16

Remove the top mount.
Step 17

Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.

Step 18

Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber.
Step 19

Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 20

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 21

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Audi A4 B6 – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 22

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 36 Nm torque.
Step 23

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 24

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 150 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 26

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B6. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 27

Install the wheel arch cover to its mounting seat.
Step 28

Install and tighten the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 29

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 30

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B6. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 31

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. Audi A4 B6
Step 32

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 33

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 nm torque.

Step 34

Remove the jacks and chocks.
