How to change rear strut mount on AUDI A4 B7 AVANT [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B7 Avant. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- Please note: all work on the car – Audi A4 B7 Avant – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Audi A4 B7 Avant
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6.1Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a drive socket #13.Step 6.2Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Remove the wheel arch cover.
- Step 8Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 12Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.Step 13Remove the support from under the arm.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B7 Avant. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.Step 14Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.Replacement: strut mount – Audi A4 B7 Avant. Tip:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
- Step 15Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 16Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.
- Step 18Remove the top mount.
- Step 19Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.Step 20Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber.
- Step 21Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
- Step 22Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 23Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. Audi A4 B7 Avant
