Replacement: engine radiator – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC recommends:
Follow the recommendations and requirements for part operation provided by the manufacturer.
All the work should be carried out with the engine cooled down and ignition switched off.
Carry out the replacement steps as follows:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to avoid damaging the paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 4
Lift the vehicle using a vehicle lift or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 5
Prepare a fluid drain pan.
Step 6
Unscrew the coolant drain plug. Use a slotted screwdriver.
Step 7
Drain the coolant.
Replacement: engine radiator – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip:
All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
Step 8
Release the clamp of the oil cooler coolant hose. Use a 7 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Detach the coolant hose from the oil cooler.
Caution!
Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the hose.
Step 10
Attach the coolant hose to the oil cooler.
Step 11
Tighten the clamp of the oil cooler coolant hose. Use a 7 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Screw in the coolant drain plug.
Step 13
Lower the car back to the ground if it was raised.
Step 14
Secure the bonnet with an additional support.
Step 15
Detach the engine cooling fan connector.
Step 16
Release the clamp of the upper coolant hose. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 17
Detach the upper coolant hose.
Replacement: engine radiator – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Coolant may leak from the radiator openings.
Step 18
Detach the wire harness holder from the upper radiator support cover. Use a clip removal tool.
Step 19
Detach the power steering fluid reservoir.
Step 20
Release the clamp of the lower coolant hose. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 21
Detach the lower coolant hose.
Caution!
Coolant may leak from the radiator openings.
Step 22
Unscrew the upper fasteners of the radiator grille. Use a T30 Torx bit. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 23
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 24
Unscrew the fasteners of the upper radiator support cover. Use a 13 mm combination spanner. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25
Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 26
Remove the upper radiator support cover.
Step 27
Detach the overflow hose connector from the radiator and stop the hose with a plug. Use fuel line pliers.
Step 28
Detach the overflow hose from its brackets on the radiator.
Step 29
Remove the radiator.
Step 30
Remove the lower insulators of the radiator.
Replacement: engine radiator – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip from AUTODOC:
Inspect the radiator insulators. Replace them if necessary.
Step 31
Clean the mounting seats of the lower radiator insulators. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 32
Install the lower radiator insulators.
Step 33
Remove the engine cooling fan shroud together with the fan from the radiator. Use a mounting lever.
Step 34
Remove the upper insulators of the radiator.
AUTODOC recommendation:
Inspect the radiator insulators. Replace them if necessary.
Step 35
Install the fan shroud together with the fan onto the new radiator.
Step 36
Install the upper radiator insulators.
Step 37
Install the new radiator.
Step 38
Secure the overflow hose in its brackets on the radiator.
Step 39
Remove the plug from the overflow hose and attach its connector to the radiator.
Step 40
Install the upper radiator support cover.
Step 41
Install and screw in the fastening bolts of the upper radiator support cover.
Step 42
Tighten the fasteners of the upper radiator support cover. Use a 13 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 22 N·m.
Step 43
Install and screw in the upper fasteners of the radiator grille. Use a T30 Torx bit. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 44
Remove the additional support from under the bonnet.
Step 45
Attach the lower coolant hose. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 46
Install the power steering fluid reservoir on the upper radiator support cover.
Step 47
Attach the wire harness holder to the upper radiator support cover.
Step 48
Attach the upper coolant hose. Use hose clamp pliers.
Step 49
Treat the engine cooling fan connector. Use an electronic spray.
Step 50
Attach the connector to the fan.
Step 51
Remove the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 52
Insert the funnel.
Step 53
Pour coolant into the reservoir.
Replacement: engine radiator – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Only use the coolant recommended by the manufacturer.The coolant level should be at the MAX mark on the reservoir.Wait until the air goes out of the system.
Step 54
Put the coolant reservoir cap back on and tighten it.
Step 55
Run the engine for a few minutes. This should be done in order to remove residual air from the cooling system and to check that the components are operating correctly and there are no leaks.
Step 56
Shut off the engine and let it cool down.
Step 57
Top up the coolant to the MAX mark without exceeding it.
Step 58
Remove the fender cover.
Step 59
Close the bonnet.
