To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 6
Remove the wheel.
Step 7
Disconnect the ABS sensor electric socket. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor plug. Remove the ABS sensor connector. Remove the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.
Please note!
Some cars are not equipped with the brake pad wear sensor.
Step 8
Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 9
Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Treat the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10
Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use XZN #14.
Step 11
Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.
Replacement: brake discs – VW Touran 1T3. Tip from AUTODOC:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 12
Unscrew the brake disc mounting bolts and remove it. Use Torx T30.
Replacement: brake discs – VW Touran 1T3. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
If necessary, use a rubber mallet.
Step 13
Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 14
Remove anti-corrosion grease from the new brake disk. Use a brake cleaner.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake discs – VW Touran 1T3. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 15
Install the brake disc.
Step 16
Tighten the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 4 Nm torque.
Step 17
Clean the mounting seats of the caliper and its bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 18
Install the brake caliper together with its bracket.
Step 19
Tighten the brake caliper bracket. Use XZN #14. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.
Step 20
Connect the ABS sensor electric socket. Connect the brake pad wear sensor plug.
AUTODOC recommends:
VW Touran 1T3 – Press the brake pedal several times with the engine shut down until you feel the resistance built up.
Step 21
Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
