Replacement: ignition coil – VW VENTO (1H2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: ignition coil – VW VENTO (1H2). Recommended sequence of steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3

Disconnect the secondary air pump hoses.
Step 4

Cover the secondary air pump channels with a microfibre cloth to prevent dust and dirt from getting inside.
Step 5

Detach the secondary air pump connector.
Step 6

Unscrew the fasteners connecting the secondary air pump to its bracket. Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 7

Remove the secondary air pump.
Step 8

Unscrew the fastener of the secondary air pump bracket. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9

Remove the secondary air pump bracket.
Step 10

Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
Step 11

Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil.

Replacement: ignition coil – VW VENTO (1H2). Tip:
Remember the sequence of the spark plug wires connectors.
Step 12

Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 13

Remove the ignition coil.
Step 14

Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
Step 15

Treat the spark plug wire connectors. Use electronic spray.
Step 16

Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Step 17

Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 Nm torque.
Step 18

Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 19

Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coil.

Replacement: ignition coil – VW VENTO (1H2). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Follow the installation sequence.
Step 20

Install the secondary air pump bracket.
Step 21

Tighten the fastener of the secondary air pump bracket. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 9 Nm torque.
Step 22

Install the secondary air pump.
Step 23

Screw in the fasteners connecting the secondary air pump to its bracket. Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 24

Attach the secondary air pump connector.
Step 25

Remove the microfibre cloth from the secondary air pump channels.
Step 26

Attach the secondary air pump hoses.

Step 27

Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.

Step 28

Shut off the engine.

Step 29

Remove the fender protection cover.

Step 30

Close the hood.
