- The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW Golf 5 – should be done with the engine switched off.
- Step 1
Open the hood. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: ignition coil – VW Golf 5. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. - Step 4
Clean the ignition coil bolts. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 5
Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil.Replacement: ignition coil – VW Golf 5. AUTODOC recommends:Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.Remember the position of the spark plug wires. - Step 6
Detach the connector from the ignition coil. - Step 7
Unscrew the ignition coil bolts. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well. - Step 9
Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well. - Step 10
Tighten the ignition coil bolts. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
