Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.Remember the position of the spark plug wires.
Step 6
Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
Step 7
Unscrew the ignition coil bolts. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 8
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
Step 9
Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well.
Step 10
Tighten the ignition coil bolts. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
Step 11
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: ignition coil – VW Golf 5. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 12
Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 13
Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coil.
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.Replacement: ignition coil – VW Golf 5. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.
Step 15
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 16
Shut off the engine.
Step 17
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 18
Close the hood.
