How to change spark plug on VW GOLF 5 (1K1) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Spark Plug for Golf V Hatchback (1K1) and other VW models
Be careful to avoid damaging spark plug wires.Remember the sequence of the spark plug wires connectors.
Step 14
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 15
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 16
Take out the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16.
Step 17
Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 18
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats. Use the spark plug socket #16.
Step 19
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Golf 5. Tip from AUTODOC:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
Step 20
Clean the intake manifold fasteners.
Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 21
Treat the spark plug wire connectors.
Use high-temperature grease. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 22
Install the spark plug wire connectors into the spark plug wells. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.
Remove the microfibre towel from the intake manifold.
Step 24
Remove the intake manifold gasket. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 25
Install the new intake manifold gasket.
Step 26
Install the intake manifold.
Step 27
Tighten the intake manifold fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 28
Tighten the intake manifold fasteners. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 29
Connect the vacuum sensor.
Step 30
Attach the vacuum pipe.
Step 31
Attach the retainers of the ignition cables.
Step 32
Insert the oil dipstick.
Step 33
Screw in the oil dipstick bracket. Use XZN #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 34
Install the engine cover and secure it.
Replacement: spark plugs – VW Golf 5. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.Do not apply excessive force when installing the part. Otherwise you may damage the fasteners.
Step 35
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 36
Shut off the engine.
Step 37
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 38
Close the hood.
