How to change springs on SUZUKI SWIFT 3 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: coil springs – Suzuki Swift MK3. Professionals recommend:
- Both coil springs of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the front suspension.
- Please note: all work on the car – Suzuki Swift MK3 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Suzuki Swift MK3
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 7Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the stabilizer rod.
- Step 9Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 10Clean the fastener of the bracket that connects the brake hose to the shock strut. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 11Unscrew the brake hose fastening bracket from the shock strut. Use a drive socket #12. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the bracket from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 13Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 14Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).Step 16Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 17Lower the car.
- Step 18Open the bonnet.
- Step 19Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 20Remove the clips of the plastic cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 21Remove the cowl grille seal.
- Step 22Remove the wiper cowl grille located on the right side.
- Step 23Remove the protective cap of the shock absorber mount.
- Step 24Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 25Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #18. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Suzuki Swift MK3 – To avoid injury, hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
- Step 26Remove the suspension strut.
- Step 27Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: coil springs – Suzuki Swift MK3. Tip from AUTODOC:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.
- Step 28Compress the spring.
- Step 29Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 30Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 31Remove the top strut mount.
- Step 32Release the coil spring.Step 33Remove the spring.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – Suzuki Swift MK3. Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary.
- Step 34Install the spring on the shock absorber.
- Step 35Compress the spring.Step 36Install the upper strut mount and the strut mount bearing.
- Step 37Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #19. Use HEX No.H6. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 50 Nm torque.Replacement: coil springs – Suzuki Swift MK3. Tip:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.
