Replacement: brake hose – VW Transporter T4. AUTODOC recommends:

The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake hoses on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: brake hose – VW Transporter T4. Take the following steps:

Step 1

Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 2

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 3

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 4

Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.
Step 5

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Transporter T4
Step 6

Remove the wheel.
Step 7

Put a container for gathering brake fluid beneath.
Step 8

Clean the area where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake circuit pipe. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake hose – VW Transporter T4. Professionals recommend:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 9

Unscrew the brake hose from the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 10

Unscrew the mounting bracket that connects the brake hose to the brake caliper. Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 11

Unscrew the fastener connecting the brake hose to the brake circuit pipe. Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 12

Remove the brake hose assembled with the mounting bracket.
Step 13

Grip the brake hose mounting bracket in the vice.
Step 14

Unscrew the brake pipe from the brake hose. Use pliers. Disconnect the brake hose.
Step 15

Remove the brake pipe from the mounting bracket.
Step 16

Loosen the vice and remove the brake hose mounting bracket.

Step 17

Install and tighten the mounting bracket connecting the brake hose to the brake caliper.
Step 18

Use a combination spanner #10.
Step 19

Install the brake pipe to the mounting bracket. Attach the new brake hose.

Step 20

Screw the brake pipe to the brake hose. Use a combination spanner #10.

Step 21

Tighten the fastener connecting the brake pipe to the brake caliper. Use a drive socket #11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 16 Nm torque.
Step 22

Tighten the fastener connecting the brake hose to the brake circuit pipe. Use a combination spanner #11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 16 Nm torque.
Step 23

Clean the brake hose mounting seat on the brake circuit pipe. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake hose – VW Transporter T4. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 24

Undo the brake bleeder screw. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 25

Connect the brake bleeder kit to the brake bleeder screw.
Step 26

Press the brake pedal several times to remove any air from the system.
Step 27

Tighten the brake bleeder screw. Use a combination spanner #11.
Step 28

Disconnect the brake bleeder kit.
Step 29

Clean dirt from the brake hose bolt. Use a brake cleaner.

Replacement: brake hose – VW Transporter T4. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 30

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a wire brush. Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 31

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. VW Transporter T4
Step 32

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 33

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 170 Nm torque.
Step 34

Remove the jacks and chocks.
Step 35

Check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank and refill if necessary.

Step 36

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.
