How to change engine radiator on MERCEDES W124 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W124. AUTODOC recommends:
- Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
- Check the coolant condition and replace it if necessary.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – Mercedes W124.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Open the hood. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap. - Step 4
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit. - Step 5
Prepare a container for fluids. - Step 6
Open the coolant drain tap. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 7
Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W124. Tip:All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole. - Step 8
Unscrew the coolant drain plug on the engine block. Use a combination spanner #19. - Step 9
Drain the coolant from the engine.AUTODOC recommends:All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole. - Step 10
Screw in the coolant drain plug on the engine block. Use a combination spanner #19. - Step 11
Close the coolant drain tap. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 12
Lower the car. - Step 13
Unscrew the fan fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10. - Step 14Remove the fastening bolts.Step 15
Remove the cooling fan. - Step 16
Remove the fan shroud clips. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 17
Loosen the clamps of the upper coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 18
Detach the upper coolant hose.Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W124. AUTODOC experts recommend:Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings. - Step 19
Remove the fan shroud. - Step 20
Loosen the clamp of the expansion tank hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 21
Detach the expansion tank hose from the radiator. - Step 22
Clean the fastener of the lower automatic transmission cooler line. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 23
Unscrew the fastener of the lower automatic transmission cooler line. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 24
Loosen the clamps of the lower coolant hoses. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 25
Detach the lower coolant hoses. Use a clip removal tool.Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W124. Tip from AUTODOC:Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings. - Step 26Clean the fasteners connecting the automatic transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 27
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the automatic transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Use a combination spanner #19.AUTODOC recommends:Be careful! Transmission fluid may leak from the lines and radiator housing. - Step 28
Detach the automatic transmission cooler lines from the radiator. - Step 29
Remove the upper engine radiator clips. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 30
Remove the radiator. - Step 31
Install the new radiator. - Step 32
Install the upper engine radiator clips. - Step 33
Attach the automatic transmission cooler lines to the radiator.
