Replacement: engine radiator – MERCEDES-BENZ KOMBI Estate (S124). AUTODOC experts recommend:

- Check the coolant condition and replace it if necessary.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ KOMBI Estate (S124) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.Step 4Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Step 5Prepare a container for fluids.Step 6
Open the coolant drain tap. - Step 7
Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: engine radiator – MERCEDES-BENZ KOMBI Estate (S124). Tip:All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole. - Step 8Close the coolant drain tap.Step 9
Loosen the clamps of the upper coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Detach the upper coolant hose.AUTODOC recommends:Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings. - Step 11
Loosen the clamp of the lower coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Detach the lower coolant pipe.Replacement: engine radiator – MERCEDES-BENZ KOMBI Estate (S124). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings. - Step 13
Clean the fasteners of the radiator fan housing. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 14
Unscrew the fan housing fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 15
Remove the fastening bolts. - Step 16
Remove the upper clips of the radiator fan housing. Use long nose pliers. - Step 17
Remove the fan shroud. - Step 18
Remove the upper engine radiator clips. Use long nose pliers. - Step 19
Remove the radiator. - Step 20
Remove the engine cooling radiator mounting pads.AUTODOC recommends:Inspect the mounting pads. Replace them if necessary. - Step 21
Clean the seats of the engine cooling radiator mounting pads. - Step 22
Fit the engine cooling radiator mounting pads. - Step 23
Install the new radiator. - Step 24
Install the upper engine radiator clips.
