Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W201. AUTODOC experts recommend:

Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
Check the coolant condition and replace it if necessary.
Please note: all work on the car – Mercedes W201 – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.
Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3

Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.

Step 4

Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.

Step 5

Prepare a container for fluids.

Step 6

Open the coolant drain tap.
Step 7

Drain the coolant from the engine.

Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W201. Tip:
All work should be done with the engine stopped.Wait until the coolant has completely flowed out of the drain hole.
Step 8

Close the coolant drain tap.

Step 9

Loosen the clamps of the upper coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Detach the upper coolant hose.

AUTODOC recommends:
Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings.
Step 11

Loosen the clamp of the lower coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12

Detach the lower coolant pipe.

Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W201. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Caution! Coolant may leak from radiator openings.
Step 13

Clean the fasteners of the radiator fan housing. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 14

Unscrew the fan housing fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 15

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 16

Remove the upper clips of the radiator fan housing. Use long nose pliers.
Step 17

Remove the fan shroud.
Step 18

Remove the upper engine radiator clips. Use long nose pliers.
Step 19

Remove the radiator.
Step 20

Remove the engine cooling radiator mounting pads.

AUTODOC recommends:
Inspect the mounting pads. Replace them if necessary.
Step 21

Clean the seats of the engine cooling radiator mounting pads.
Step 22

Fit the engine cooling radiator mounting pads.
Step 23

Install the new radiator.
Step 24

Install the upper engine radiator clips.
Step 25

Install the fan shroud.
Step 26

Attach the upper clips for the radiator fan housing.
Step 27

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 28

Screw in the fasteners of the fan housing. Use a combination spanner #10. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 29

Attach the lower coolant pipe.
Step 30

Tighten the clamp of the lower coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 31

Attach the upper coolant hose.
Step 32

Tighten the clamp of the upper coolant hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 33

Remove the coolant reservoir cap.

Step 34

Insert the funnel.
Step 35

Pour coolant in the coolant reservoir.

Replacement: engine radiator – Mercedes W201. AUTODOC recommends:
Only use the coolant recommended by the manufacturer.The coolant level should be at the MAX mark.Wait until the air goes out of the system.
Step 36

Install the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 37

Screw on the coolant reservoir cap.
Step 38

Run the engine for a few minutes.

AUTODOC recommends:
This should be done in order to remove residual air from the cooling system and to check if the components are operating correctly.
Step 39

Shut off the engine.

Step 40

Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 41

Close the hood.
