Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
Use only new O-rings during installation.
Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
Please note: all work on the car – Ford Focus MK2 diesel – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. To avoid damaging the part when removing it, do not use excessive force.
Step 4
Unscrew the oil filler plug.
Step 5
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.

The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.All works should be done with the engine cooled down.
Step 6
Put a waste oil container with at least 4 l capacity under the drainage hole.
Step 7
Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 8
Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Drain the used oil.

Caution! The oil may be hot.
Step 10
Detach the air intake hose clamp. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11
On the right side, detach the PCV valve hose from the engine cover.
Step 12
Detach the air inlet pipe from the turbocharger.
Step 13
Detach the mass air flow sensor connector.
Step 14
Remove the air filter housing.
Step 15
Cover the turbocharger impeller with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects getting into the system.
Step 16
Cover the PCV valve hole with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
Step 17
Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 18
Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use a drive socket #27. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 19
Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
Step 20
Put the old oil filter in the container.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. Tip:
Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
Step 21
Cover the oil filter housing with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
Step 22
Remove the oil filter cover O-ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 23
Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.
Step 24
Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 25
Install a new O-ring to its mounting seat on the filter cover.
Step 26
Install the new oil filter to the mounting seat on the filter cover.
Please note!
Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.
Step 27
Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
Step 28
Remove the microfibre towel from the oil filter housing.
Step 29
Install a new oil filter housing cover and tighten it. Use a drive socket #27. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 30
Remove the microfibre cloth from the turbocharger impeller. Remove the microfibre cloth from the PCV valve hole.
Step 31
Install the air filter housing and fasten it.
Step 32
Attach the air inlet pipe to the turbocharger.
Step 33
On the right side, attach the PCV valve hose to the engine cover.
Step 34
Fasten the clamp on the air intake hose. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 35
Attach the mass air flow sensor connector.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. Tip from AUTODOC:
Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
Step 36
Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
Step 37
Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 26 Nm torque.
Step 38
Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 39
Lower the car.
Step 40
Remove the oil filler cap.
Step 41
Insert the funnel.
Step 42
Pour oil into the engine through the filler. Required amount of oil: 3,8 L.
Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. Professionals recommend:
Use the oil recommended by the manufacturer.
Step 43
Check the oil level using the dipstick. Top up oil if necessary.
Please note!
The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.
Step 44
Install the oil filler cap.
Step 45
Tighten the oil filler cap.
Step 46
Run the engine for a few minutes.

After the oil pressure warning light goes out, stop the engine.
Step 47
Check the oil level using the dipstick.
Please note!
The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.Make sure that the oil filler cap is properly tightened.Check the threaded plug of the drainage hole and the oil filter seal for tightness. If necessary, carefully tighten them up.
Step 48
Install the engine cover and secure it.

Caution! Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the fasteners of the car. Ford Focus MK2 dieselMake sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.
Step 49
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 50
Close the hood.

Note that oil pressure warning light, which indicates insufficient pressure in the lubrication system, may be on for a longer time than usual. After a few seconds, the oil will fill all the channels, and the light will go out. To protect the environment from pollution, be sure to dispose of the used filters at special collection points.
