How to change oil filter and engine oil on FORD FOCUS MK2 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Use only new O-rings during installation.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- Please note: all work on the car – Ford Focus MK2 diesel – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. To avoid damaging the part when removing it, do not use excessive force.
- Step 4Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 5Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. Tip from AUTODOC experts:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.All works should be done with the engine cooled down.
- Step 6Put a waste oil container with at least 4 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 7Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. AUTODOC recommends:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 10Detach the air intake hose clamp. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11On the right side, detach the PCV valve hose from the engine cover.
- Step 12Detach the air inlet pipe from the turbocharger.
- Step 13Detach the mass air flow sensor connector.
- Step 14Remove the air filter housing.
- Step 15Cover the turbocharger impeller with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects getting into the system.
- Step 16Cover the PCV valve hole with a microfibre cloth to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.
- Step 17Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use a drive socket #27. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
- Step 20Put the old oil filter in the container.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Ford Focus MK2 diesel. Tip:Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
- Step 21Cover the oil filter housing with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.Step 22Remove the oil filter cover O-ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 23Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.
- Step 24Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 25Install a new O-ring to its mounting seat on the filter cover.
- Step 26Install the new oil filter to the mounting seat on the filter cover.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.
- Step 27Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.
- Step 28Remove the microfibre towel from the oil filter housing.Step 29Install a new oil filter housing cover and tighten it. Use a drive socket #27. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
