Replacement: fuel filter – Ford Focus MK2. AUTODOC recommends:
Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
Please note: all work on the car – Ford Focus MK2 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: fuel filter – Ford Focus MK2. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 4
Unscrew the fuel filter bracket fixing bolts. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Remove the fuel filter fastening bracket.
Step 6
Unscrew the fuel filter bracket. Use a drive socket #Е11. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7
Detach the fuel pressure sensor connector. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 8
Clean the fasteners of the fuel supply lines. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 9
Disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter. Use a flat screwdriver.
Replacement: fuel filter – Ford Focus MK2. Professionals recommend:
Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 10
Remove the fuel filter.
Step 11
Install a new fuel filter.
Replacement: fuel filter – Ford Focus MK2. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Attention! Use quality filters – Ford Focus MK2.
Step 12
Connect the fuel lines to the new fuel filter.
Step 13
Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a drive socket #Е11. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 8 Nm torque.
Step 14
Clean the connector of the fuel pressure sensor. Use dielectric grease.
Step 15
Attach the fuel pressure sensor connector.
Step 16
Install the fuel filter fastening bracket.
Step 17
Screw the fixing bolts of the fuel filter bracket. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18
Remove the fuel line.
Step 19
Press the fuel primer pump several times until it gets hard. Use a bulb hand fuel pump.
Step 20
Install the fuel line.
Step 21
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 22
Shut off the engine.
Step 23
Install the engine cover and secure it.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: fuel filter – Ford Focus MK2. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.Make sure the engine cover is properly seated. It should not be displaced with respect to the guiding fasteners.
Step 24
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 25
Close the hood.
