Replacement: brake drum – TOYOTA COROLLA (ZZE12_, NDE12_, ZDE12_). Professionals recommend:
- Replace the brake drums on TOYOTA COROLLA (ZZE12_, NDE12_, ZDE12_) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
- When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
- Please note: all work on the car – TOYOTA COROLLA (ZZE12_, NDE12_, ZDE12_) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #21.
- Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: brake drum – TOYOTA COROLLA (ZZE12_, NDE12_, ZDE12_). AUTODOC experts recommend:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 6Remove the wheel.
- Step 7Fully lower the parking brake lever.Step 8Remove the brake drum.Replacement: brake drum – TOYOTA COROLLA (ZZE12_, NDE12_, ZDE12_). Tip:Examine the brake shoes. Replace them if needed.
- Step 9Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
- Step 10Move the parking brake shoes against the drum.
