The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake hoses on the same axle.
All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: brake hose – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Use the following procedure:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 3
Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 4
Loosen the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
Step 5
Raise the vehicle.
Replacement: brake hose – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip:
If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 6
Unscrew the wheel nuts.
Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
Step 7
Remove the wheel.
Step 8
Prepare a fluid drain pan.
Step 9
Clean the areas where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake pipe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10
Loosen the nut fitting connecting the brake pipe to the brake hose. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use a 17 mm combination spanner.
Step 11
Unscrew the nut fitting connecting the brake pipe to the brake hose.
Step 12
Block off the brake pipe. Use a fluid line stopper.
Step 13
Detach the brake hose from the brake caliper. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench.
Step 14
Close the hole in the caliper with a plug.
Step 15
Remove the brake hose retaining clip. Use a slotted screwdriver. Use a mounting lever.
Step 16
Remove the brake hose.
Step 17
Clean the brake hose mounting seat on the brake pipe. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 18
Clean the area where the brake hose connects to the caliper. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 19
Remove the plug from the hole in the caliper.
Step 20
Attach the new brake hose to the brake caliper by screwing the brake hose nut fitting into the hole in the caliper.
Step 21
Install the brake hose into the bracket on the body.
Step 22
Install the brake hose retaining clip. Use a hammer.
Step 23
Remove the fluid line stopper from the brake pipe.
Step 24
Screw the brake pipe nut fitting into the brake hose and tighten it. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use a 17 mm combination spanner. Use an 11 mm flare nut socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 15 N·m.
Step 25
Tighten the brake hose nut fitting on the brake caliper. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use an 11 mm flare nut socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 15 N·m.
Step 26
Remove the brake bleeder screw cap.
Step 27
Clean the bleeder screw. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 28
Connect the brake bleeder kit to the brake bleeder screw.
Step 29
Loosen the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm combination spanner.
Step 30
Press the brake pedal several times to remove any air from the system.

Step 31
Screw in the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm combination spanner.
Step 32
Disconnect the brake bleeder kit.
Step 33
Tighten the brake bleeder screw. Use an 11 mm socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 9 N·m.
Step 34
Clean the brake bleeder screw area. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 35
Reattach the brake bleeder screw cap.
Step 36
Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use an all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 37
Treat the wheel hub surface that contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 38
Install the wheel.
Caution!
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing on the fastening nuts.
Step 39
Screw on the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 40
Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts in a criss-cross pattern. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 200 N·m.
Step 41
Remove the jack, jack stands, and wheel chocks.
Step 42
Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 43
Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 44
Close the bonnet.
