Replacement: brake hose – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Follow the maintenance intervals, recommendations, and requirements for using the part as specified by the manufacturer.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake hoses on the same axle.
- All the work should be carried out with the ignition switched off.
Replacement: brake hose – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 4Loosen the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
- Step 5Raise the vehicle.Replacement: brake hose – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
- Step 6Unscrew the wheel nuts.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Prepare a fluid drain pan.
- Step 9Clean the areas where the brake hose is connected to the brake caliper and to the brake pipe. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 10Loosen the nut fitting connecting the brake pipe to the brake hose. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use a 17 mm combination spanner.
- Step 11Unscrew the nut fitting connecting the brake pipe to the brake hose.
- Step 12Block off the brake pipe. Use a fluid line stopper.
- Step 13Detach the brake hose from the brake caliper. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench.
- Step 14Close the hole in the caliper with a plug.Step 15Remove the brake hose retaining clip. Use a slotted screwdriver. Use a mounting lever.
- Step 16Remove the brake hose.
- Step 17Clean the brake hose mounting seat on the brake pipe. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
- Step 18Clean the area where the brake hose connects to the caliper. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.
- Step 19Remove the plug from the hole in the caliper.Step 20Attach the new brake hose to the brake caliper by screwing the brake hose nut fitting into the hole in the caliper.
- Step 21Install the brake hose into the bracket on the body.
- Step 22Install the brake hose retaining clip. Use a hammer.
- Step 23Remove the fluid line stopper from the brake pipe.Step 24Screw the brake pipe nut fitting into the brake hose and tighten it. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use a 17 mm combination spanner. Use an 11 mm flare nut socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 15 N·m.
- Step 25Tighten the brake hose nut fitting on the brake caliper. Use an 11 mm flare nut wrench. Use an 11 mm flare nut socket. Use a torque wrench. Tightening torque: 15 N·m.
- Step 26Remove the brake bleeder screw cap.
