How to change the rear brake pads on the FORD TRANSIT MK7 [AUTODOC TUTORIAL]

Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for both brake pad wear sensors on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – Ford Transit Mk7 van – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out the replacement steps as follows:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 4Loosen the wheel nuts. Use a 21 mm wheel impact socket. Use a tommy bar.
- Step 5Raise the vehicle.Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – Ford Transit Mk7 van. Tip:If you are using a jack, make sure the car is parked on a hard, flat surface.Make sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
- Step 6Unscrew the wheel nuts.Caution!To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the nuts.
- Step 7Remove the wheel.
- Step 8Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 9Spread the brake pads apart. Use a mounting lever.
- Step 10Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a 21 mm combination spanner.
- Step 11Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: brake pad wear sensor – Ford Transit Mk7 van. AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting it from the brake hose to avoid opening the brake line.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging from the brake hose.Do not press the brake pedal after the caliper has been removed. This may cause the piston to fall out of the caliper bore resulting in the brake fluid leakage and air entering the system.
- Step 13Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor. Use long nose pliers.
- Step 14Detach the brake pad wear sensor cable. Use long nose pliers.
- Step 15Detach the brake pad wear sensor connector.
- Step 16Clean the brake caliper piston. Use a nylon brush. Use a brake cleaner.
- Step 17Retract the brake caliper piston. Use a brake caliper wind back tool.
- Step 18Treat the brake pad wear sensor connector. Use an electronic spray.
- Step 19Attach the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.
- Step 20Secure the brake pad wear sensor cable.
